The annual Winterama celebration and full day of events is coming on Saturday, February 9 to Lake Minnewaska near Glenwood.
As of 7:41 a.m. today (January 11) a host of area schools are 2 hours late due to bad, icy road conditions and mild to serious fog conditions. Alexandria, West Central Area and Osakis are closed for the day, while Hancock, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa and Sauk Centre are two hours late as of now.
Minnewaska Area stayed "on time" and had buses go out at regular times. No word yet if there have been any accidents in Pope County due to school not being 2 hours late.
In a West Central North Conference boys' basketball game last night (Jan. 10), the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters won 77-51 at Minnewaska Area to improve to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Lakers trailed 37-21 at halftime and fall to 3-8 overall.
This website, set up in blog format for easy viewing, will contain updates on events in Pope County, Minnesota, and postings about the wonderful attributes of living in our area. Also included will be important information about events at Minnewaska Area school, including Lakers' athletics. We hope you can make a visit to Pope County, MN - an outstanding place to raise a family or enjoy your golden years. Located in beautiful west central Minnesota.
